Pitch a Play Project

We’re excited to launch our brand new Pitch a Play project. The project will feature readings of new plays by three new, regional playwrights each season. Based on an audience, one of the playwrights will launch the next season with a fully produced workshop production of their play.

How it works

Playwrights who live within the region are invited to submit one play and a 1 pg statement of goals to rachel@arkansastheatrecollective.org. Both must be in PDF format and please do not submit blind copies. Please submit only one play. Additional plays will not be considered.

We are accepting plays until Nov 1, 2017. Playwrights will be notified November 30.

Note: For the 2017/2018 season, we are accepting two playwrights since Abortion Road Trip  has launched the project this September.

Then what happens?

Playwrights will receive two one-on-one “coffee” sessions with playwright, Rachel Lynett. After the “coffee” sessions which can happen over face to face coffee or a Skype coffee. After the two sessions, playwright will receive a public reading of their play either in January or March.

After the public reading, there will be an audience vote in March on which play they’d most like to see produced. The winning playwright will be notified by mid April and the play will go into rehearsal for a full production in August.
