Our Mission

Our Mission

to create opportunities for local theatre artists and playwrights, to create outreach programs for the underserved in the community, and to stage the stories of our community

A full breakdown of our mission and goals:

  • to create programming to help promote local theatre artists
  • work closely with colleges and high schools to develop arts in education programs
  • to include in our annual programming a show or residency that promotes the undergraduate and high school community
  • to seek and apply for state, federal, and private funds available in support of the arts
  • develop a website that contains a directory of national and local submission opportunities for playwrights to be accessed for free by our community
  • to exclusively produce local work to support artists in our community
  • to create jobs for local theatre designers and other artists
  • to create outreach programs for the underserved in the community such as residencies that teach literacy
  • to stage at least one show every season that comes from the voice of the community (whether that be from interviews, surveys, etc)
  • to develop an awareness for the need of supporting local artists
  • promote and encourage the cultural and artistic diversity of our region
  • create networking opportunities for new writers
  • to create programming that supports writers from all disciplines (not just theatre)
  • to create residencies focused on arts in education for both adults and young adults
  • to have service at the core of our mission and include at least one show every season in which all of the profit is donated to a group in need
  • to create a coalition with the community in which we work together to decide what will best serve the community in terms of new work and supporting local artists
  • ┬áto serve the theatre-going public of Northwest Arkansas, an audience we believe is hungry for challenging and exciting new plays
